Orly Monster Mash

Good evening everyone!  I have an amazing polish to share with you guys that is just perfect for St. Patty's Day or any day you want something simply perfect.  I had wanted this polish for months and finally snagged it during one of Sally's wonderful 50% Clearance weekends, less than $2!  Over the past few months I have became a pretty big fan of Orly products and certainly look forward to owning more.  Enough blabbing and on to the polish.

Orly Angel Eyes and Finger Paints Inkblot Blue

Good afternoon everyone!  I hope you have all been well.  Today I have a wonderful set of blue nails to share with you guys.  Earlier this month I was at Sally's doing some secret santa shopping and this one bottle of Orly was calling my name as I attempted to shop.  In the end the Orly won and I purchased it.  Boy am I glad I did because this is by far my favorite blue glitter ever!

Go Pink on Wednesday

Good evening everyone!  Tonights post is dedicated to everyone who has ever had any experience with cancer.  It's safe to say everyone has been affected by cancer at some point in their life and all know too well that early detection is key.  October is well know for raising breast cancer awareness and this month I want to every Wednesday discuss what you can do as an individual to help yourself and others.  This one is about checking for breast lumps.  It take just a few minutes each month and could truly save your life.  Here is a super easy walkthrough for checking for lumps published by the National Breast Cancer Foundation.  Also remember it is important to pay attention to any other unusual lumps that may show up through out the body.  If you see or feel something, make an appointment to see a physician immediately.  Now for the pink nails....

Sorry for the preaching but you are special.  Live life to the fullest!  Thanks for stopping by tonight and look forward to seeing you guys next time..... now go check those boobies!

Etsy Shop of the Week: Geeky and Chic

Good evening everyone!  Tonight I have another cute little shop for you guys.  Over the summer I participated in the Reddit Arbitrary Day gift exchange and I got the cutest keychain holder ever!  I currently use it as a safe place to hang my earbuds so the cats don't destroy them.  The shop that supplied this cute little keychain holder is Geeky and Chic.  They offer the holder ranging in a single hook up to a three hook and is a prefect gift for any Zelda lover.  Go by their shop and check them out for other cute geeky items.

Now since they were not polish related, and to stick with the them of nails I have The Hero of Time from Dollish Polish to show you guys.  Now I love the original Legend of Zelda video game and when I saw this polish I had to have it.  It took me a few months but I finally grabbed a bottle over at Overall Beauty.  Normally I see this polish on a green base but at the last minute I decided to go with a brown base.  It turned out great!

This was a good two coater.

I love this brown.  It's a nice chocolate color with a hint of sparkle.

The Hero of Time is heavy on the glitter so I used my trusty Elmer's Glue and everything came off super easy.  This time I made it two full days before I broke down and peeled the polish off, but there were no chips at all.

I went with two coats here since I knew removal was going to be easy.

I absolutely love the look of this polish!  It was so shiny it caught everyones attention.

Now I am feeling inspired to play some Zelda.  Time to break out my Wii-mote with the classic controller and play some old Zelda on the Mac.  Thanks for stopping by this evening and I look forward to seeing you again.

Orly Halley's Comet

Good afternoon everyone!  Today I bring you Orly's Halley's Comet.  Being a product child of the 80's and my fascination with space, the name alone brings back memories.  I can't even begin to describe how amazing this polish looks.  It is a gorgeous teal blue color with some pretty unique flakes.  You can see in the macro shot below what I am speaking of.  Application was perfect and makes for a quick mani on those hectic days.  Only took two coats to achieve perfection and then  followed up with my handy quick dry top coat.

Bare with me, I got a new camera.

I absolutely love the flakes!

I just recently got into the Orly line and so far I really like the polish.  Look forward to trying out some new ones in the future.  I currently have my eye on a few from Thinkgeek and hope to get my hands on them before they are sold out.

I would also like to take this time to give a big congrats to Rosie N. and Mindy J. for winning the first Model City Polish giveaway.  I hope both of you enjoy your prizes and really look forward to creating Rosie's custom blend.  Thanks to everyone who participated and look forward to doing another one in the future.  Good night everyone!

Etsy Shop of the Week: Beach Plum Cottage

Good evening, ladies!  I am so excited to present my first Etsy shop of the week.  Now this shop does not sell nail products so, to tie the two together, I matched my nails to one of my favorite items I own made by Maggie.  Beach Plum Cottage is a collection of awesome handmade items by Maggie.  Last Christmas I discovered her shop through communications on Reddit.  I immediately fell in love with her shop and had to have some of her products.  I ended up with two scarfs and a cap for myself, a scarf for my mother, and one for my sister in law.  My favorite is pictured below with matching nails.  I plan on doing a lot more shopping this winter for gifts and personal items for myself.

Also at Beach Plum Cottage you can get some super cute jewelry, headbands, and many more accessories!  All of her stuff is handmade and uses the best materials available.  See something you like but not in the color you want just let her know.  I wanted a pink scarf for my mom but didn't have exactly what I was looking for.  After a few emails and photos of supplies I was able to pick out the perfect color combo.

Another cute idea is custom ear buds.  You pick the colors and she'll make them just for you.  No more boring ear buds! I don't know what type of ear buds she uses but I'll bet she would work with you to customize your own set for those who want the best sound possible.

Now I have to talk about the amazing stuffed animals she hand makes.  I want one of these so bad and I am not even a kid!  This would be the perfect gift for just about anyone, hint hint....

I hope everyone will take the time to head over to Beach Plum Cottage and pay her a visit.  Added bonus for you guys, use code FIREWATERHEART for 15% off you order.  Stock up now for those cute holiday gifts that everyone will want!
